The post canteen is formally known as 'Roppel's Canteen'. This is to honor our WWII US Navy Veteran Mr. Virgil Roppel. American Legion members and their guests are welcome to stop by for comradeship, have a drink and partake of our games & social activities.
The first park in the state of Kentucky to be dedicated solely to Veterans. The Post 244 is proud to oversee a variety of ceremonies in the park and support the community's continuous enhancement of its monuments, memorials, and facilities.

The American Legion is the Nation's largest Veterans Organization. Each year its members advocates for current and former members of the Armed Forces, as well as assists countless Veterans in securing the benefits they're entitled to.
The American Legion is organized into "Departments" corresponding to states, territories, or overseas jurisdictions. The Department of Kentucky covers all Legion posts in the Bluegrass State. Their website has great resources on state resources, the Department Service Officer, and convention information.
We conduct the largest known Ceremony for the Disposal of Unserviceable Flags in the United States. We welcome communication from any organization conducting a larger program.
These formal proceedings are conducted in accordance with Legion regulations that were approved thru Resolution #440, in 1937.
